Most of the active polysaccharides are
found in the cell walls of the mycelium and the fruitbody
(mushroom), and are water soluble and hot-water extractable.
Alcohol
is used to precipitate the water-
extracted polysaccharides, and control the heat. Alcohol is
never used alone.
Our extracts are more potent than
a less-expensive, hot-water only extracted product. The alcohol
precipitation
yields
both polysaccharide and protein bound polysaccharide in the
extract.
Products extracted
with only hot water are lacking in protein-bound polysaccharides
historically researched and proven to be necessary for maximum
effectiveness.
This is particularly important for the extracts of Coriolus
known as PSP and PSK.
